SmartWater® is the ONLY forensic liquid supplier whose processes
around evidence analysis are compliant with the FSR Codes of Practice.

As of October 2017, it is a requirement that most categories of forensic science, including laboratory analysis of forensic marking products (used to help return stolen property and secure criminal convictions by linking marked items and offenders back to a specific crime scene), is compliant with the Forensic Science Regulators’ (FSR) Codes of Practice.

What does this mean?

If an offender is marked using technology provided by a supplier that fails to meet this standard and is then called upon as evidence, the law mandates that this MUST be disclosed to the Courts. The Courts may then decide to rule that evidence as inadmissible, potentially:

    • reducing the chance of the Court securing a criminal conviction
    • resulting in a reduction in the deterrent value of the technology used
    • rendering the investment in that forensic marking product a waste of money.

SmartWater® is the ONLY forensic liquid supplier whose processes around evidence analysis are compliant with the FSR Codes of Practice.

SmartWater clients can be rest assured that no such risks apply to SmartWater products and that SmartWater can continue to build on a conviction rate that has already seen thousands of criminals jailed to date.
